Just as far as the Earth and the Sun

“No, I want Java rice please,” I asked. My tummy was grumbling inside since I haven’t eaten my lunch yet. Moreover, a dish with Java rice seemed very satisfying and hunger-lessening. And so, I ordered. As expected, the dish was very tasty and delicious. However, at the back of my head I was complaining since that Java rice made me remember my hatest subject of the semester, yes, Java programming.

It’s quite ironic to know that my most favorite and hatest things actually have the same name. I sometimes even wished that the satisfaction I feel after eating Java rice can as well be the satisfaction I feel every time I finish a Java program. But it’s not. It’s as far as the earth and the sun.

Upon finishing that semester full of sleepless nights caused by Java, no one can ever compare to the fulfillment I felt. Furthermore, I even cursed that language for causing my eye bags double. So I decided to never look back to Java language and continue with my upcoming programs for the next years.

However, when summer came, I felt like my happiness won’t last long. I will still experience Java. Yes, Java. I still need to learn JAVA SERVER PAGES. I felt like my world as an IT student would end at that very moment. Well, I exaggerated there. But, what would you actually feel if you were in my case?

But since I’ve already enrolled and can never turn back time, I tolerated the entire summer. “It’s not like I will experience this all the days of my life,” I thought. So I actually programmed using Java. It felt like a retake of my past lessons, however, I needed to mix it up with HTML.

Upon learning JSP, I realized that it was actually not as difficult as I thought especially now that I seemed to have remembered everything I learned in Java programming. Moreover, I consider HTML my favorite programming language. (Laughs) It’s also very satisfying to help my classmates analyze and debug the files and actually see the eye-catching output. (Laughs again)

In the end, after thinking that Java language can never compare to the satisfaction I feel every time I finish a whole Java rice, I realized I was wrong. I actually felt that kind of satisfaction. It just proves that the earth and the sun can actually meet.

While I was shuffling the channels in our television, ABS-CBN grabbed my attention when Sharon, a talk show, featured normal individuals who had been popular being commercial models. One of these individuals is the guy portrayed in the advertisement. It’s shocking to know that an assistant director would actually accept such offer despite his profession and would actually risk becoming a laughing stock for the sake of money.

Many had thought of this as a shower of good luck to the guy but if you think about it clearly, it actually is not. Yes, it had caused a pot of money and even popularity to the professional but he had accepted such in exchange for becoming a laughing stock for years.

I'm worth one peso (shipment fee not included), would you buy me?

It’s nice to know how the Internet can make our hectic lives as easy as one-click. All the things I’ve been buying at malls or other shopping centers can already be ordered via the net. I need not go to malls anymore, rather, I can stay at home sitting while shopping. I can buy the shirt I want, the shoes I’ve been longing, the latest gadgets, concert tickets, a candy…. Candy…. Candy…??? hmmmmm…

A candy, one piece of bond paper, lollipop and the like obviously are not the things an ordinary shopper would buy online. The reason is very logical. If you want to purchase something without worrying how the shipment fees could cost, you will never order something worth a peso. You can just walk a few steps from your house and you can easily find vendors who sell those cheap materials. No shipment fees, just sweat. No worries, just a few beer bellies lost.

Online shoppers search for things that are long-lasting and useful. Online shopping’s basic purpose, first and foremost, is to make shopper’s lives easier. They won’t certainly take time finding ways to find easier ways for already easy ways. That’s so unnecessary. They would most probably search for easier access to inaccessible things.

A Walk to Remember: A Movie Review not a Synopsis

If you were some high school punk rated the most popular student in your school, would you even care take a look at a high school nerd who constantly wears her ugly jacket, which she wore when she was in fourth grade? If you were this girl, on the other hand, would you dare talking to this punk ran after by a bunch of girls who know nothing but flirt? Of course, you wouldn’t. “Two worlds will never meet,” they say. However, the movie A Walk to Remember breaks this rule by making two high school students bounce against each other because of the punk’s mischief.

I was in my mid- high school when Mandy Moore soar to popularity. I had her CDs and watched her movies. Therefore, the reason I watched A Walk to Remember was because I idolized her, no more no less. However, as I watched the movie, I realized that there’s more to that movie than a Top of The Charts singer leading actress. The movie talks about passion, love and loyalty of the nerd and the punk whose love was tested by fate.

After the entire movie was shown, I was left sitting in my chair and eagerly invited my classmates to watch the show one more time. The passion portrayed by the two leads despite the negative forces around inspired me. In my opinion, the movie should be considered a fiction since it’s close to impossible to ever see that kind of passion in reality. To continue loving a person despite knowing her disease, which may cause her death is impressive and inspiring. I would really want to see that kind of love in reality.

Overall, although the movie is about a couple of years shown already, I still recommend it. I even bought a copy of my own and watched the movie more than a hundred times and I’m not getting weary from watching it. If you haven’t tried watching the movie yet, better try. You will still be inspired despite the old setting. If you’re disappointed, come to me and I’ll pay you bucks.

E-commerce security issues

Ana is a shopping addict and a lazy mammal as well. So it’s quite ironic thinking about her walking along malls with high-heeled shoes and macro mini skirt. She can never bear a long walk on the street nor carry her shopping bags. Needless to say, they’re not that rich to hire a helper that would carry her bags with her. But then, just recently, I realized that the way she dresses isn’t that eye-catching anymore. Thus, I, curious as I was, asked her why. Then, I discovered that she was just shopping through the net. However, when she purchased a pair of slippers, she was shocked to discover that after she pushed on her private key, another user claimed what she purchased prior to her. From then on, she had never purchased stuffs from the net again.

My cousin’s former way of shopping is often termed as E-commerce. E-commerce is an abbreviation for electronic-commerce.  It is a way of doing transactions when the merchant and the customer are too far away to meet.  Just like any other business transactions, it involves the selection of goods by the customer through virtual browsing and the payment of goods. As the name goes, it operates via the Internet to exchange, access and capture data.

E-commerce is often considered a fascination for individuals who find the World Wide Web an easy access to shopping. I wouldn’t blame them since, basically, E-commerce is designed for a more comfortable and stress-free purchase of products or services. Neither I nor many of my acquaintances shop or negotiate through the net, yet, upon hearing what had happened to my cousin, I feel there’s a great need for me to discuss the major issue often disregarded by people who are oriented with E-commerce. Moreover, with regards to my cousin-in-law’s experience, I think what concerns us are the security issues involved within E-commerce.

One of the major concerns on e-commerce security is privacy. The lack of privacy on the Internet is a major concern to many consumers. Since the world wide web is accessible to many and hackers are widespread, there's a big possibility that any private key given to any consumers will be accessed by any of these so-called hackers. If this is so, not only my cousin can experience the same problem on E-commerce but a lot of Internet users as well.

To solve this very issue, I recommend encryption. In ecryption, information or data is converted into a cipher or code to prevent unauthorized access. I recommend this, since it affords a large degree of privacy and anonymity. Since decrypting devices are now available, if we want to impose encryption, there is a need to seta world wide standard for encryption.

I love computers; that's the most basic reason I have thought of when I decided taking up Information Technology at a prestigious school. I didn't know what subjects would I focus on nor did I know what I would do if I graduate. Except the fact that I know how to use the mouse and type the keys in my keyboard, I can say there's nothing special about me loving computers.

Now that I already spent my two years surviving with the same course and am half-way through graduation; I guess it's now time to decide what job I would apply for after I graduate. Since I am an IT major, I would, needless to say, be suitable at jobs that involve programming, web design and the like. Moreover, if I want the best, I might as well choose the best job there can be and that is being a WEBMASTER.

Webmaster. The world itself says it all. Master, as defined in the Oxford Dictionary is a person who has dominance or control over something. Therefore, a webmaster is someone who controls the web. That's funny though. However, a webmaster, in the most technical sense, would be the person responsible for the Web server. The administrator in charge of keeping the Web site up and the server running - but not the person in charge of building the pages. Those positions would be filled by Web Developers, Web Designers, Web Writers, Information Architects, and Web Producers. He may not be familiar with any programming languages but he is responsible for adding pages, removing parts and asking the programmers to change something. Since I do not boast any good grades in programming, I might try being a webmaster. (Laughs)
